This drug belongs to the group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is absolutely not compatible with MAO inhibitors.
Pristiq tablets are used for the treatment of:
- psychiatric disorders;
- depression of different origin;
- states of anxiety and panic;
- obsessive-compulsive disorder;
- post-traumatic stress disorder;
- bulimia;
- a positive effect in the prevention of recurrence of listed above disorders.
Antidepressant positively influences the patient’s mood, reduces feelings of fear, anxiety and worry. The effect occurs within 1-2 weeks after treatment.
The initial dose for the use of the drug is 20 mg / day, the maximum – no more than 80 mg / day. In case of necessity they increase the dose by 20 mg every 7 days. Duration of the treatment usually is 3-4 weeks. Tablets are taking inside regardless of the meal.
When taking this antidepressant, there are possible some side effects that are manifested as disorders of the digestive and nervous systems or different allergic reactions.
Treatment with this drug should be conducted under the close supervision of the physician.
